# Aurora Smart Home

> Turns smart home requests into checked Home Assistant automations, ESPHome firmware, integrations, Node-RED flows and dashboards.

Aurora Smart Home is a community plugin by Tony Löfgren for building a smart home around Home Assistant. Describe what you want, and its orchestrator hands the request to the right specialist: firmware, automations, custom integrations, Node-RED flows or dashboards. Before it writes code, it checks pins, I2C addresses, voltages, versions and entity IDs against its reference data, and when a request can't work it stops and shows you the fix.

What you can do with it
- Generate ESPHome firmware for ESP32 and ESP8266 boards, with the pins checked against the board's profile and a wiring diagram
- Write Home Assistant automations, blueprints and scripts in current syntax, using entities that actually exist
- Build Python custom integrations with a config flow and a HACS-ready layout
- Create Node-RED flows and design Home Assistant dashboards
- Connect outside services such as Tibber, SMHI, OpenWeatherMap and Spotify using documented API patterns
- Paste a config you already have and get a review with line-numbered fixes
- Start from a ready-made recipe, such as a CO2 monitor, a motion light or vacation mode

How it works
The plugin bundles the /aurora:aurora orchestrator command with topic skills for ESPHome, Home Assistant, integration development, Node-RED, an API catalog and dashboard design. The topic skills also load on their own when you mention their subject. A project that spans firmware, an automation and a dashboard is built as one folder on disk, with a README covering the parts list, wiring, install steps and troubleshooting.

Good to know
- It's markdown and JSON with no runtime dependencies. It runs in your agent; it isn't a Home Assistant add-on.
- Its maker documents installing it in Claude Code and the OpenAI Codex CLI.
- When it starts, it checks for a newer release with the GitHub CLI, if you have it installed.
- It's an independent community project, provided as is. Smart home work can involve mains power, batteries, locks, water and heating, so check what it gives you before you use it.
