# Algolia Productivity MCP

> Lets your agent search your Algolia indices and answer search-analytics questions, read-only and with your own permissions.

Algolia's own hosted MCP server for the people in your organization. Your agent can search across the Algolia applications and indices your account can reach, get recommendations, and pull search analytics such as top searches, searches with no results and click positions. It's read-only: it can search and analyze your data, but it can't create, update or delete indices, records or settings.

What you can do with it
- List your indices and search any of them, including facet values
- Get recommendations from Algolia Recommend
- Ask business-intelligence questions: top searches, top results, searches with no results or no clicks, and no-results and no-click rates
- Look at search and user counts, top filters, filters with no results, top countries and click positions
- Explore index data and check results before you make changes elsewhere

How it connects
Algolia hosts it at https://mcp.algolia.com/mcp. First enable it for your account in the Algolia dashboard (Generative AI > MCP Servers > Productivity); it then covers every application your permissions allow. Each person signs in to Algolia when their agent first connects, and their own Algolia permissions decide what it can see. No OAuth client ID or secret is needed; leave those fields empty if your agent asks for them. Algolia's guide covers ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and Gemini CLI. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an organization owner adds the connector first.

Good to know
- Read-only by design: data changes still happen in the Algolia dashboard or APIs.
- Anything you can access in Algolia is available to it, so treat prompts and answers as internal data.
- Turning it off in the dashboard stops connected agents straight away.
- For customer-facing assistants that should only see a curated set of indices, Algolia offers a separate Algolia Public MCP.
