# Airtable MCP

> Let your agent search and update Airtable records and build bases, tables, interfaces and automations, through Airtable's hosted MCP server.

Airtable's own MCP server connects your agent to your Airtable bases. Airtable hosts it, and it works within your Airtable permissions: ask questions about your data, create and update records, or have your agent build the bases, tables, interfaces and automations behind the work.

What you can do with it
- Search and analyze records, with filters, sorting and keyword search
- Create, update and delete records, and undo an eligible change it made
- Create bases, tables and fields, and rename them or change a formula
- Build interfaces and pages, such as dashboards, kanban boards, calendars and record lists
- Read records from interface pages, even when you only have interface access
- Fill out and submit forms on your behalf
- List, create and update automations, which arrive switched off for you to review

How it connects
Airtable hosts the server at https://mcp.airtable.com/mcp. Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini have ready-made Airtable connectors, and Claude Code, Cursor and other agents add the address directly. You sign in with Airtable once and choose which bases, workspaces and interfaces it can reach; change that any time under Integrations, then Third-party integrations. A personal access token works too, for scripts and command-line setups.

Read-only when you want it
Use a personal access token with only the read scopes (data.records:read, schema.bases:read, data.recordComments:read and workspacesAndBases:read), and your agent can view data but can't create, update or delete anything.

Good to know
- It's on every Airtable plan, including Free, at no extra cost. Calls count against Airtable's normal API rate limits.
- Your agent gets exactly your permissions: with read-only or comment access to a base, it can only read.
- It creates up to 10 records per request.
- Automations it builds stay off until you turn them on in Airtable. It can't edit Script actions, add interface filters or change an existing interface.
- If your organization restricts third-party integrations, an Airtable admin may need to allowlist it first.
