# OpenClaw

> The open-source personal AI agent that runs on your machine and lives in your chat apps

OpenClaw is an open-source personal AI agent that runs on your own Mac, Windows or Linux machine, with iOS and Android apps paired to it. You talk to it on WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, iMessage and more. It remembers your preferences, projects and people, browses the web, fills forms, works with files and runs commands, with full access or sandboxed. Bring hosted, subscription-backed or local models.

What you can add
- MCP servers, local or hosted, with `openclaw mcp add` or in the Control UI. Hosted servers can take headers or sign in with OAuth (`openclaw mcp login`).
- Agent Skills: folders with a SKILL.md in ~/.openclaw/skills or ~/.agents/skills, a workspace's skills folder, or from ClawHub with `openclaw skills install`.
- Plugins from ClawHub and from Claude plugin marketplaces, plus Claude, Codex, Cursor and Agent Plugins bundles. From bundles it loads skills and MCP servers; some other parts aren't wired up yet.

How it connects
It runs on your machine, so it starts local servers itself and reaches hosted ones over the internet.
