# Gemini

> Google’s AI assistant on the web, Mac and your phone

Gemini is Google's AI assistant for writing, planning, research and everyday questions, at gemini.google.com, in the Gemini app on Mac and on your phone. It works with Google apps like Gmail, Calendar and Drive through Connected Apps, and can take on longer tasks.

What you can add
- Custom apps: any MCP server, by its address, in Settings → Connected Apps on gemini.google.com. Once added, they work in the mobile app too. For now this needs a personal Google Account, in the US and in English, with Keep Activity on.
- Skills: upload a SKILL.md file, or a folder or .zip with one in its main folder, from Customize → Skills. Skills work on the web, on Mac and on your phone. Scripts that need the internet don't run.

How it connects
Gemini links a custom app's MCP server to your Google Account and signs in with OAuth. A server without Dynamic Client Registration takes its OAuth client details under Advanced features. Gemini asks you to confirm before a custom app changes anything.
