# Cursor

> The coding agent for building ambitious software, in your editor, terminal and the cloud

Cursor is a coding agent for building ambitious software. It works in the Cursor desktop app, in your terminal with the Cursor CLI, and as cloud agents that build, test and demo features on their own computers. It also reviews pull requests in GitHub and takes tasks from Slack. You pick the model, from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, SpaceXAI and Cursor's own.

What you can add
- MCP servers, hosted or local: from the Cursor Marketplace in Customize, an Add to Cursor link, or mcp.json (~/.cursor/mcp.json for you, .cursor/mcp.json for a project). Hosted servers can sign in with OAuth or take headers such as an API key.
- Agent Skills: folders with a SKILL.md in ~/.cursor/skills or ~/.agents/skills, or .cursor/skills or .agents/skills in a project. It also reads skills from Claude Code's and Codex's folders.
- Plugins: Cursor Plugins from the Cursor Marketplace, and plugins in the Agent Plugins open standard, which bundle skills and MCP servers. Teams and Enterprise plans can run their own team marketplaces.

How it connects
The desktop app and the CLI start local servers on your computer and reach hosted ones over the internet.
